My Christmas Traditions

Everyone has their own traditions they do at Christmas time. There is no right or wrong way to do Christmas. As long as it makes us happy then what else matters. I found this quote in Christmas Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella which is actually relevant in today's society.

The quote is "If the Grinch can't steal it, that's Christmas."

This actually made me realise that it doesn't matter how many presents you have or how well decorated your house is. Christmas is about being with the ones you love and just being happy. As long as your happy on Christmas day then you'll have a great Christmas.

Now I thought I'd share some of my own Christmas traditions because why not. It is is Blogmas after all and nearly time for Christmas so why not share my traditions on this blog.

1. Turkey Christmas dinner
Every Christmas I've had since the day I can remember, my family have always had a turkey roast dinner. It's the only time I actually eat turkey. It's just a tradition of my family and now I can't not get rid of it. So I gotta have a turkey Christmas dinner.

2. Watching the Gavin and Stacey Christmas special on Christmas eve.
Being British, everyone has heard of Gavin and Stacey and one of there best episodes is the Christmas special. It's just so relatable. Also the fact that their new Christmas special comes out on Christmas Day. It is the perfect excuse to watch the original Christmas special on Christmas eve. It's just something I've done in recent years and I feel like I must do it every year now. It just puts me in a great mood for Christmas day.

3. Stocking is always on the bedroom door
Ever since I was a child, I always had my Christmas stocking on the door. I still have the same Christmas stocking from when I was a child and it always goes on my bedroom door. It's also an extra decoration for my bedroom because it's on my door. It's just something I've always done and probably will always do.

4. Going out and seeing the Christmas lights
You gotta have a dedicated evening in December to wrap up warm and go out around town to see the Christmas lights. Some people really go all out for Christmas and fill their houses with Christmas lights that it's got to be something worth seeing. It's just a tradition that everyone does.

5. Gotta have an advent calendar
I don't care how old I am. I'm always going to buy myself a chocolate advent calendar. It's just a tradition I've done since I could eat chocolate and something that I'll never stop doing. It's also the start of the Christmas excitement when you open the first door. Knowing you have another 23 days of chocolate to go.

So yeah, those are just five of my Christmas traditions. I know there's probably many more but I can't think of them right now. Let me know if you have any Christmas traditions that I haven't mentioned. I would love to hear them.

I'll be back again tomorrow with another Blogmas post.

See you then.
