5 Ways To Turn A Bad Day Around
Everyone has a bad day. Whether we've had some upsetting news, been dumped or just our mental health has taken its toll for the worse. Whatever the reason for having a bad day is, we all sometimes struggle to turn it around so that is why I thought I'd make a list of five ways that you can do when you have a bad day to turn it around.
1. Have a movie day or binge watch a series
Sometimes when you have a bad day, the best thing to do is to distract yourself from the sadness and what better way to do that than to get snuggled up and watch either your favourite movies (which always guarantee to make you happy) or binge watch a feel-good series or a new series that keeps you invested in every episode. This may not be a long term solution but for a short period of time, it will allow you to forget you're having a bad day and may even make you smile.
2. Go Outside
This may contradict the previous point but another way to turn a bad day around is to get outside whether it's going for a walk, going shopping or taking a day trip to somewhere you've never been to before. It may be very tempting to curl up in a ball and hide away from the world. As I've learned through many bad days of doing exactly that, the world still goes on whether we like it or not plus you won't find many new opportunities from the comfort of your own home. You never know what awaits you the moment you step out of the door. You may meet your new best friend or the love of your life. You may find a new favourite coffee place or a new place to walk. Try something new and different when you next step outside and you never know, it may change your life.
3. Start Cleaning
This may be a really random to do and may even be the last thing you want to do on a bad day but trust me when I say when you start cleaning, it will feel almost like you have your life together. Plus, it's a distraction, I'm not saying go crazy and clean every inch of your home from top to bottom (although you can do it if you really want to) but tidy one room or one part of your home that needs sorting. Whether if it's just making your bed and putting on some fresh sheets on or just tidying your bedroom. There's something about tidying your bedroom. There's just something about tidying that makes you feel like your life is put together and also makes you do something productive on a bad day. So even though tidying up is a distraction on a bad day, at least it's a productive distraction.
4. Listen to music and dance!
I don't know about you, but music has a massive impact on your mood. When you're having a bad day, I'd highly recommend just putting on your favourite playlist and dance. There's literally a song for every mood. If someone's broken your heart or annoyed you, listen to Lily Allen's F You song. If you need a rage or just a sing along then Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody will do just the trick. Honestly, music has the power to change your emotions. So if you're having a bad day then get those headphones and switch on your favourite playlist. Trust me, this is a guaranteed cure to a bad day.
5. Accept It
Sometimes when we're having a bad day there is not a lot that we can do about it so sometimes we've got to accept it for what it is. A bad day. Let's not forget that there's a brand new day tomorrow where new opportunities to have a better day awaits. Remember, yesterday is history, today is a present and tomorrow is the start of something new. I may have stolen or just mixed a bunch of quotes together, but my point still stands. A bad day is simply a bad day and hopefully if you follow all of these five tips then you should hopefully be able to turn your bad day around.
So, those are five ways to turn a bad day around. I hope they were helpful to any of you having a bad day and if you I've missed anything then be sure to leave it in the comments below and maybe we can all have better days.
Thank you for reading my blog and I'll be back tomorrow with another post.
