My Harry Potter Book Ranking

As a lover of the Harry Potter series and as I read the books on a yearly basis, I thought a fun idea would be to give my own personal ranking all the Harry Potter books. This is just my own personal opinion and preference. I'm sure many may agree or disagree with my list, but I just want to make it perfectly clear that I love the entire series so even if it's at the bottom of the ranking, it's the book I love the least but still love it anyway. Either way I thought this would be a fun list of ranking the book series. I thought I'd leave the film series out of this ranking as the books are where they all started, and I have completely different opinions when it comes to the film series. Anyway, let's get starting with my ranking of the Harry Potter book series.

7. Order Of The Phoenix
This may be very controversial to a lot of people as I'm fully aware this is many people's favourite book of the series. However, I find this one to be the most frustrating mainly because there is too much Umbridge for my liking but also it is very close to reality where the government is corrupt and also making all these changes to school that cause immense frustrating not just for the teachers but for the students that ultimately are the ones most affected. It's also annoying how we know throughout that Harry and Dumbledore are telling the truth, but the world is blind to see it. Much of this book would have been resolved if the Ministry of Magic took into consideration and acted on what Harry and Dumbledore were saying. I think perhaps my judgement on this book may be on the enjoyment of the books before this one that I'm almost get disappointed when I reach to this book in the series. However, I still enjoy reading it as it is an important part of the series and I love this series wholeheartedly so please don't think I hate any of these books as we go further down the list. This one just happens to be the one I rank at the bottom of this list.

6. Deathly Hallows
Probably another controversial one at the bottom half of this ranking. I put this one sixth because this is the book where everything gets serious, and it almost loses that magic the first half of the series brought to us. I will say this is the only book of the series I actually read before watching the movies (mainly because nobody would go to the cinema with me, it was a shame I didn't figure out my love of going to the cinema alone) but I was happy to read it first and I cried while reading the book which is probably the first time, I ever cried reading a book. It was definitely a joy to read and got me excited when I finally got to watch the last two movies when it came out on DVD. Either way, I had to place this book somewhere on this ranking and as I thought about all the books as a whole, this one came sixth for me as it was a lot of camping, finding horcruxes, friendship drama in the first half but everything came to ahead in the second half and was way more exciting. Either way it was an incredible conclusion to the whole series. Especially the Flaw in the Plan chapter was the best and most satisfying one of them all. I honestly wish it could have gone on longer (like forget the nineteen years later, what actually happened in-between those nineteen years> With Hogwarts, the ministry and how all the characters live changed after the Battle of Hogwarts. That's the real story I want.) Anyway, this book I really enjoyed reading but obviously not as much as the others.

5. Chamber of Secrets
This one was difficult one for me to rank because I wasn't sure whether to rank it lower or higher than the next book on this list. I have a completely separate love for Chamber of Secrets because I love the PS1 and PS2 games of this book so I may have been blind sighted by that for the actual book itself. I do enjoy this book and the mystery of who's opening the Chamber of Secrets, but I just find the next book on this list had a better mystery and also involves going into details of one of the most interesting characters if this series. However, this book was a starting point for those details, so I have to give it credit for that. Either way I still enjoy this book especially after reading the first book and I'm never left feeling disappointed reading it.

4. Half Blood Prince
Controversial opinion again, I know many find this one to be their least favourite, but this is one in the series I really do enjoy. In the beginning when I first read this book, I probably would have ranked it lower but as I read the series every year and is the one, I'm currently reading now, it has grown on me, and I love it. It goes into a lot of detail about Voldemort's history which I find fascinating and wish there was a standalone book on Voldemort's life. I also find it returns to the origin of Harry Potter with all the excitement and mystery. You have the mysterious half-blood prince to uncover, you have a love triangle going plus you have the epic plot twist towards the end which just throws everything out of the window and gets you excited for the final book. I feel this book is an underrated one of the series, especially as the movie skips so many details (the other memories of Voldemort's life, the potion lessons, quidditch etc). Honestly, it's one in the series I've grown to love and that's why it is fourth on my ranking of the Harry Potter books.

3. Philosopher's Stone
The one that started it all. This one deserved a high ranking because if we didn't have this book then we wouldn't have the rest of the series to enjoy. It introduces to the characters we all know and love, it has a mystery of who's trying to steal the Philosopher's Stone and just opens us up to the magical world of Harry Potter. It has wonderful themes of friendship, adventure, and excitement. It's an incredible beginning to the whole series and gives us insight that each year of Hogwarts will be an exciting one. I'd be very surprised if anyone ranks this one lower than the top three because it is the one that started it all and deserves a lot of credit for the magic it has done.

2. Prisoner of Azkaban
This is always a debate for me between this one and the first in my ranking. However, if I was basing it one the movies then this one would win hands down. It is definitely one of the most light-hearted of the series. Of course you do have the dementors and a mass murderer on the loose, but it also gives us into the history of Harry's parents and (spoiler alert) why they were murdered. It's another mystery of the prisoner of Azkaban but it's an exciting mystery. I just love reading this book when I come to it and definitely it deserves to be in the top two of the series because it has one of the best teachers of the series (Professor Lupin) but gives that feeling of hope for the rest of the series and all round it's just an enjoyable book of the series.

1. Goblet of Fire
So here we are, my top book of the series. Honestly, I don't care what anyone says. This is by far my favourite book of the series. It gives us so much excitement of the Quidditch World Cup, the Triwizard Tournament, Mad-Eye Moody, the Yule Ball and just the mystery of who put Harry's name in the Goblet of Fire. We learn about so many things that movie misses out on such as Winky the house elf, Ludo Bagman, SPEW, the beetle (if you know then you know) and goes into so much more detail of Barty Crouch and his history. Plus most importantly Dobby is in this book. It's just jammed pack with everything you could want in a Harry Potter book and every chapter is worth reading. Honestly, I always love reading this book and every time I do, I am reminded of why it is my favourite in the series. I once read this book twice while I was on holiday (because I didn't bring another book with me) and I was not disappointed. I just love the Goblet of Fire book and that is why it is my favourite of the series.

There we have it. That is my ranking of the Harry Potter books. Let me know if you agree with my list or if you disagree, what is your ranking of the Harry Potter books? I would love to hear it.

Honestly, Harry Potter is one those book series that you can't help but love. It is something that I grew up with and I'm so grateful for that. I can't put into words on why it makes me happy but it's one of those things I can always rely on to put a smile on my face whether it's reading the books or even watching the movies. It just makes me happy and makes me feel like I belong.

Anyway, thank you for reading my blog and I'll be back tomorrow with another post for you.

See you then.
