December Favourites
As we come to the penultimate post of 2023, it only seemed right to include a December favourite post and share what I've been loving in December.
Let's get started!
Wonka
This was a surprise because I didn't expect to go to the cinema this month then I realised Wonka was out and as someone who grew up watching Willy Wonka then Charlie and the Chocolate Factory I knew I had to watch this. It was nice to watch it in the cinema because there is something magical watching a film on the big screen. I honestly really enjoyed this movie and it was a feel good movie that filled me with joy, made me laugh and at one point even made me cry. It was a charming film that I didn't know where it would take us and honestly I was pleasantly surprised. Plus it has musical numbers which was a nice touch back to the original and honestly I found myself listening to the album as soon as I got home. Honestly, this is a feel good film and would highly recommend it if you just want to escape to a world of pure imagination.
Harry Potter Audio Books
I recently just finished my yearly dose of Harry Potter audiobooks as I always find myself listening to them every year and I always enjoy it as it's a comfort to me to go back to Hogwarts every now and then. Plus I love Stephen Fry's voice throughout. He is the voice of the Harry Potter books and it's honestly the best decision ever made. I always find myself learning something new every time. Just little clues that I miss and I always think aha that's where that comes into play. It's just always a nice comfort to listen to and gives me a reason to take in one of my favourite series every year by listening to them. I honestly love the Harry Potter audio books and that's why they are a firm favourite in my December favourites.
The Crown
Something I watched this month was the final two seasons of the crown. Honestly, I wasn't sure what to make of them at first because the first four seasons did such a great job and I feel like this season was a little bit more controversial especially with what happens within the season including Diana's death and it made me nervous to watch but I gave in and watched. I must say I thought they did a great job in capturing the drama and did it in a respectful way. It was both heartbreaking and moving all at once. I was only ten months old when she died so I didn't really understand the full impact of it but after growing up and learning about the tragedy that happened, I really felt they captured that emotion in episodes three and four of the final season. I will say they did an excellent job with the casting of this season just like with all the seasons of The Crown. Love it or hate it, it's a well done programme and even though it captures real life events, you must remember that the conversations are highly dramatised because many of us really know what has been said within the walls of the Royal Family. However, it's a well done show and I think they finished it on a good note. The Crown was definitely something I enjoyed watching in December.
Elf
One Christmas movie that I really enjoyed watching this year was Elf. It's such a feel good film and reminds you that it's important to always be yourself, always be positive about everything and it's important to know who you are. It's a jolly Christmas film and I don't understand people who don't like this film. It's always a fun film to watch every year and honestly I love it. I feel like it's not Christmas until you've at least watched Elf, The Grinch and Home Alone. Those are the top tier Christmas films and honestly this is definitely one of my favourites.
Christmas
Honestly, one of the best things about December is Christmas. From the music to the films to just the whole feeling of Christmas. It's always a wonderful time of year and I honestly love it. It's always a good feeling when it comes around. Honestly, I had a good Christmas as I spent it in Manchester with my family and it was really nice. Definitely something different than my usual Christmas at home but it was a wonderful Christmas and I really enjoyed myself. Christmas is definitely a magical time of year and a firm favourite in December for me.
There we have it, those are my December favourites. Let me know what you've been loving this month in December in the comments below. I would love to hear it.
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and I'll be back tomorrow with the final post of 2023.
See you then.
