Blogging Routine
As these last few posts on my blog have all come under the theme of Blogging. It only seemed right to share my blogging routine with you. This is to help any of you budding bloggers get inspired to create a routine with yourself. Now this isn't a set routine that I stick to on a weekly basis but a lot of the steps I do everytime I work on my blog. Maybe not in the same order but they are there.
Anyway, let's get started with my blogging routine.
I have no set schedule or days where I work on my blog but the routine often starts with me going through my Blogging notebook. Some days I will do an idea dump where I list ideas of different posts even if they're a little out there or may take time to do, it gives me some ideas to work with on the days I do work on my blog.
The place I go to for ideas is often Pinterest. For the last week of March, I've made the theme travel related so I've searched travel just to see what posts are out there and sometimes I will take inspiration from the title of the pins then make the post in my own way.
Then when I have an idea, I will just start typing away. I don't think too much about the editing at this point. Although I will split it up into subheadings if I feel it needs to have subheadings, the main thing is to get the words onto the page.
Finally, when I've finished typing away then it's time to edit. I use a straightforward software called Google Documents. I copy and paste the post onto a document then I simply do a spelling and grammar check. It's really effective as it will spot the mistakes I've made that I may not have noticed if I did a simple readthrough. Then I just fix the mistakes and do one last double check to make sure there aren't any mistakes because sometimes you can accidentally make a mistake while editing the post so it's always good to triple check your posts.
Next, comes the title of the post. I use Canva to create my title pages. I created a title board that I use for all my posts on my blog and all I do is edit the previous post's title to fit the current title I'm using. I make sure it fits inside the rectangle and it's aligned to the centre. Once that's done, I will add it to the top of my posts.
Sometimes, a blog post will need photos. My setup is pretty basic. I do have a little ring light to add a bit of light to the shot. I will then use either my desk, a piece of paper or my bed as the background for the photos and then I normally use my phone to take the photos. Once I have all the photos, I will email them to myself so I can use them on my laptop to add to my blog.
Once the photos are added, I will align my post so that it's in the centre as I really like the layout of the posts in this way. Once that's done I will preview the post and have a readthrough just to make sure it looks good and that nothing is out of place.
Finally, I will schedule the post and hit publish.
Then the routine starts all over again as I normally don't want to work on just one post for the routine and try to at least get another done or as many as I feel like doing that day.
There we have it. That's my blogging routine. I know it's pretty straightforward but it's a routine that works for me. It's not a set scheduled routine but following these steps really helps me to stay on track when it comes to posting and it's especially handy for this month where I'm posting everyday this month.
Thank you for taking time to read my blog and I'll be back again tomorrow with another post for you.
See you then.
