Creative Motivation

Sometimes in life you have to use your creativity. Even now I have to use my creativity to write a month of blog posts. We all use creativity in some aspects of our life whether it's writing, working on a project, making art or even cooking a meal. We have these moments where creativity is needed, but how do we keep that creative motivation alive? Well, I'm here to help you with five tips on how to motivate yourself to be creative.

1. Enjoyment
Honestly, if you love being creative on a daily or weekly basis then you're already one step ahead. Having passion and enjoyment in your creative projects can really help to boost that motivation. Sometimes all we need is a little joy in life to get us motivated and if you enjoy being creative then you won't have any trouble finding that creative motivation.

2. Work on your creativity for an hour
Spending an hour of your day on a creative activity can really inspire you to be creative. Whether it's doing some writing on a story, working on a school project or doing some artwork. Just do something creative for an hour and you'd be really inspired to boost your creativity. Something I've been loving recently is scrapbooking because there's no rules to scrapbooking and honestly it's something that really sparks my creativity because I have to sometimes think about how I want to lay out each page. Spending an hour on something creative helps because after the hour you can decide whether to stop for the day or continue working on your creativity. Either way you've had a chance to be creative even if it's just for that one hour or longer. It will really boost your motivation to be creative.

3. Have a brain dump of ideas
Sometimes it's hard to be creatively motivated if you don't have any ideas on what you want to do. Take some time to just have a brain dump of ideas. This can be done in any way you like whether it's writing a list, doing a mind map, making a load of post-it notes on the wall or even if you want to be visual then create a moodboard to help inspire you. Sometimes one idea can spark a number of ideas. Have a brain dump of ideas and see what you come up with.

4. Take regular breaks
Sometimes when you're working on something and letting your creative juices flow, it's important to take regular breaks. It doesn't have to be a long break but sometimes a five to ten minute break can really help. It gives you a chance to take a step back from your work and just have a breather. Take the time to grab a snack, have some coffee or step outside for a few deep breaths. It's good to refresh your brain with a break because after the break you'll be able to come back to your work with a fresh pair of eyes. You may even see something you didn't notice before your break. Always take regular breaks when you're doing something creative because it can really make all the difference to your creativity.

5. Be yourself
Finally, it's so important when you're being creative to also be yourself. It's okay to be inspired by other people's work and ideas but straight up copying them is a big no no. It's important to be yourself because you are your own unique person. Nobody is alike so it's important to look within yourself to find creativity. Also, there's no pressure when it comes to being yourself. Most artists and creative people are the way they are because they are just being themselves and listening to their own ideas. You're allowed to take inspiration from other people but it's important to always keep it original. The best work is originality. Just be yourself when you're creative and soon you'll find that motivation.

There we have it. Those are my five tips on how to find your creative motivation. Let me know if you have any other tips on being creatively motivated in the comments below. I would love to hear them and maybe we can all help each other out.
