Favourite Ficitional Characters

Yesterday's post got me thinking about who my favourite fictional characters are. We all have fictional characters that bring us joy or make us even more curious when we read about them or see them in action. In fact it makes us wish there were whole stories about these characters. I thought I'd share five of my favourite fictional characters. I will warn you that three of them come from a particular fandom but I have my reasons. Anyway, let's get started.

Hermione Granger
The cleverest witch of her age. Honestly, Hermione is the greatest character in the Harry Potter series for many different reasons. One she is muggle born so she learned everything from scratch with no magical history. She's also key to helping the golden trio in every single book. Harry and Ron would be lost without Hermione. Even in the first book and getting past all the Philosopher's Stone protections, particularly the devil snare and the potion riddle. Then of course she helped Harry and Ron work out the Chamber of Secrets monster. She did so many classes in her third year that she went back in time and if it hadn't been for the time turner then the third book would have ended differently. She knew her worth by not waiting for Ron to ask her to the Yule Ball and instead went with Victor Krum because he asked her as he actually liked her. Plus there is so much more to her achievements in the rest of the series that Hermione does not get enough credit for everything she does in the books. One particular moment that also fascinates me is Hermione's boggart. Her biggest fear is McGonagall saying she's failed all her exams. Yet, I feel like there is so much more to it. Hermione is muggle born so failing all of her exams could result in her being kicked out of Hogwarts and having to go back to the muggle world where she would never truly belong. It makes sense why Hermione studies so much as she doesn't want to be kicked out and no wonder she gets annoyed at Harry and Ron for not doing their homework. There's a lot more meaning to it than just her being a know it all. This is her life and she doesn't want to throw it away so she works hard to stay in the magical world. That's why in my opinion Hermione Granger is one of the best characters in the Harry Potter series.

Lara Croft
Honestly, Lara Croft is an inspiration for many different reasons. In the nineties, video gaming was very male dominated and it was even rarer to find a female video game character. Until 1996 when Tomb Raider was released and Lara Croft was born. I remember when I was younger, watching my brother and dad play Tomb Raider and it fascinated me that they were playing a female character. Of course naive me didn't realise the sexual appeal of Lara Croft with her triangular boobs and shorts. At the same time, Lara Croft has grown to be one of the greatest video game protagonists of all time. Many come back to play the original games, especially with the release of the Tomb Raider remastered games. A lot of people have fond memories of the Tomb Raider games and Lara Croft herself. She is an inspirational character especially for women as it showed that women can be a part of the video game world just as much as men. I always enjoy going back and replaying a Tomb Raider game because it just brings all the nostalgia back. I love Lara Croft because she is honestly an inspiration and one of my favourite video game characters.

Lord Voldemort/Tom Riddle
The main protagonist of Harry Potter is a fascinating character. What's his real motive in life? How did he become the greatest dark wizard of all time? Honestly, I wish I could read a whole book about Voldemort's story. I know we got snippets of it during Chamber of Secrets and the Half Blood Prince but why it told us bits of information. It never really told us the full story. Why did he desire to become immortal? What was his motive for wanting to become the Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher? What led him to be the way he was? Honestly, I have so many questions and I wish there was a whole book on his life story because I would love to read it. I think he is one of the greatest villains of all time. He's a fascinating character and I really wish I knew more about him. That's why he's one of my favourites because he's someone I would want to know more about.

Albus Dumbledore
I told you there were three from a particular fandom. Having mentioned him in yesterday's post as a guest to my fake dinner party. I had to mention him as he is an interesting character. There's a lot more to Dumbledore than the books and movies. Again, I would love to read his autobiography because he would have a lot to say. What was his childhood like? What were Grindelwald and Dumbledore's real plans? Who landed the fatal shot in the duel between himself, Grindelwald and Aberforth? What happened in the infamous battle between Dumbledore and Grindelwald? Did Dumbledore have a plan with the boy who lived? I have so many questions about Dumbledore and most of them are left unanswered. I know we nearly got something with the Fantastic Beast series but as it got cancelled, we'll never really know. Still, he's a fascinating character with a story to tell and I wish I knew more.

Belle
Finally, my favourite Disney princess is Belle. I relate to her so much because she loves books but also she feels like she is the odd one out in her village. I feel the exact same way. She's the one I relate to most out of all the Disney princesses and I honestly think she is one of the best Disney princesses. She's smart, brave and willing to sacrifice her own life in order to save her father. Honestly, it always brings me so much joy whenever I watch Beauty and the Beast because it makes me happy and I used to watch my VHS on repeat. It was my dream to have Belle's dress when I was younger but sadly that dream never came true. Maybe one day. I love Belle for many reasons and that's why she is one of my favourite fictional characters.

There we have it, those are my five favourite fictional characters. I'm sure there are many more but I don't want this list to go on forever. Let me know what your favourite fictional character is in the comments below.

Thank you for taking time to view my blog and I'll be back tomorrow with another post for you.

See you then.
