My Summer Reading List
The summer season is the perfect time to catch up on some reading. I find myself taking a book with me everywhere I go or having an audiobook ready to listen to if I'm on the go during the Summer season. I also have a collection of books that I'm excited to read this Summer as I only have seven books left on my bookshelf to read then I would have read my entire bookshelf. It was nearly down to five but then I bought two more books this month. My excuse was they were two books to complete a series and there was a deal on them which you will see on the list. Let's get started.
Currently Reading:
How To Kill A Guy In 10 Ways by Eve Kellman
This one I'm excited to read because I love a good true crime read and this story is actually quite interesting. It's about when you're on a night out or on a date then something doesn't feel quite right. Maybe the person is not taking no for an answer or following you home when you're on your own then there is a helpline you can contact called M. This story revolves around Millie Masters who set up this helpline after one too many encounters on nights out and after her own sister is also a victim of a night out. Feeling like there's one too many creeps out there in the world, Millie can't resist the temptation of murder and getting rid of these creeps that take it a step too far. I'm quite intrigued where this story is heading and it's almost like a revenge book for me as I've had one too many creepy encounters on a night out. I'm excited to see where this heading, I'm only a few chapters in but I'm hopeful about this one.
Berserker! by Adrian Edmondson
I wasn't originally going to read this one but after watching Bottom Exposed with Adrian Edmondson. I grew up watching Bottom (even though I wasn't supposed to) but it always made me chuckle and was the thing we used to quote a lot in the house. I eventually watched the Young Ones. I was gutted when Rik Mayall passed away as it meant there would never be a reunion show. I loved the characters of Richie and Eddie. I decided to get Adrian Edmonson's autobiography because I was kind of curious and wanted to know more about him plus how he stepped into the comedy world. I haven't read a lot yet but I am hoping to get around to it soon.
To Be Read:
The Reappearance of Rachel Price by Holly Jackson
This is one I'm really excited to read as I've read a lot of Holly Jackson's books so far and loved her Good Girl's Guide To Murder series. This is a stand alone book but I'm really excited to read as it's another true crime mystery. As someone who watches true crime videos on YouTube, I love a good plot. Especially when there is a plot twist even during the blurb. The story revolves around Bel who has dealt with being the only witness to her mom Rachel Price's mysterious disappearance sixteen years ago. The case is brought up again when a true crime documentary decides to look into it but just when they wrap it up, Rachel Price reappears into Bel's life and it seems nothing will be the same again. Already I want to know what happened. How did Rachel Price disappear? How has she come back into Bel's life? There are so many burning questions I have which is why I'm eager to read this book to find out what happened. Plus as I've loved a lot of Holly Jackson's books this year and loved them, I have high hopes for this one too.
The Thursday Murder Club Series by Richard Osman
This one I've heard a lot about and many people have said good things about it. As a fan of true crime, I think this will be right up my street. It's set in a retirement village where four unlikely friends meet up once a week to investigate unsolved murders but then a murder takes place right on their doorstep and they find themselves involved in investigating who the killer is. This sounds right up my street because I recently watched Only Murders in the Building and I've really enjoyed that so this sounds very similar. I'm excited to see where it goes and I love a good mystery so I hope it has clues to help me also guess who the potential murderer is. I'm not sure what the rest of the series will involve but I'm excited to start the series.
There we have it. Those are my Summer reading list. Let me know if you have any books you're excited to read this Summer and be sure to let me know in the comments below. I always love a good book recommendation.
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and I'll be back tomorrow with another post.
See you then.
