December Favourites

Image
Well, here we are. The last post of 2024. I can't quite believe we're at the end of the year. It just flew by this year and I feel like so much has happened this year. As is an end of the month tradition on this blog, here are all the things I've been loving this month. Let's get started. Blood Brothers I watched this musical in the Palace Theatre in Manchester at the end of last month and I honestly fell in love with it. I downloaded the album and I've been listening to it on repeat. It's such a unique story, how two brothers are separated at birth and go on to live two separate lives in different social classes but yet they don't let that stop their friendship. It has the innocence of childhood to growing into your teenage years to facing the reality of adulthood. It's such a sweet but also heartbreaking story. I even went and bought the book to read so I can relive the story again as well as watching clips on YouTube. I'm so fascinated by it that ...

Thank You

Image
I just wanted to take this moment to say thank you so much to anyone that has taken the time to view and read my blog this year. It means so much to me and I can't quite believe how far this blog has come.  Last May was rather special for me because it was the tenth anniversary of this blog. A milestone that I didn't think I'd ever reach. Especially through all the Blogger's blocks and gaps in Blogging I've done in the past. I was seventeen years old studying my A Levels when I first started the blog.  If you told seventeen year old me that this year I would have had 55K page views. I wouldn't have believed you. Now I know to some, that's not exactly a viral thing. To me though, that truly means a lot to me because I can count the number of friends I have on one hand, yet my blog was viewed all over the world, 55K times in 2024. That is just incredible. Especially with the fact my blog has had over 155K page views over the past ten years and to have 55K of t...

Favourite Reads Of 2024

Image
In 2024, according to my good reads. I've read sixty books which is kind of crazy. I may have cheated a little and listened to audiobooks which in my opinion counts as reading the book because you're still consuming the story just in audio form rather than written form. I also read the entire A Series of Unfortunate Events and also all the Horrid Henry books which I mainly did for nostalgia purposes. That's why I read so many books this year but I thought I'd break down what my favourite reads of 2024 were. Let's get started. A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder Series By Holly Jackson So I got around to finishing the final two books and the novella which I really enjoyed. Especially the final book. No spoilers but there’s a part two of the book that makes it all worth it. I couldn’t put it down. I really enjoyed Holly Jackson’s work this year but particularly the last two books of the series were incredible. I still need to get around to watching the new tv series of the ...

Merry Christmas!

Image
I just wanted to make this post to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. I hope you're having a lovely day whether you're spending it with family, friends, colleagues or even on your own. I hope it's a happy day for you. I'm currently spending my day with family, opening presents and having a turkey Christmas dinner.  This year has been an incredible year and I can't quite believe it's Christmas day. Anyway, that's all I have to say as I want to keep this post short so you can get back to your day.  Thank you so much for taking the time to view my blog this year. I really do appreciate all of you and wish you a very Merry Christmas.  See you again soon. Single At Christmas

Image
This time of year can be hard for some of us. Especially as we're coming up to Christmas then there's New Year. People will be celebrating their first Christmas as a couple. There'll be engagements, baby announcements, celebrating getting their first home together. Even just having someone special to celebrate Christmas and New Years with. Personally, I've never bought a Christmas present for a partner or even shared a New Year's kiss with anyone. I don't know if that makes me lucky or not that I still have that milestone to achieve but it does bring you down. Especially when there's movies like The Holiday and Love Actually to remind you how single you really are.  I did have a small hope when I went for drinks with someone two months ago that this year might be different. Sadly I think I fell at the first hurdle and I may have even lost my chance at anything happening but I haven't given up hope because you never know what can happen, although probably...

Xmas Movie Day

Image
To get into the Christmas spirit, I decided to have a movie day and honestly I'm really glad I did because it just got me excited for Christmas day. Sometimes, you just need a cosy feel good movie to watch and I decided to watch these movies while I was hungover after going out the night before and it was the best decision. I closed my curtains, drank hot chocolate and had some snacks to keep me immersed while also snuggling in my Christmas bedding. It was perfect. I think the only thing missing was having someone with me but I know one day it will happen. Anyway, I want to share some of the movies I watched and why I love them.  How The Grinch Stole Christmas  This movie I watched so much growing up on VHS. Yes I had this on VHS. It's definitely a comfort movie for me. I love Jim Carrey's Grinch and how relatable he is to me in my adult years. How he didn't hate Christmas, he just hated how people treated him. It's just a fun movie to watch and really makes you get...

Not Feeling Christmas

Image
I don’t know about you, but December seems to be flying by so fast. Christmas is this Wednesday and I don’t know why but I’ve never felt less Christmassy in my life. I haven’t even watched a Christmas film yet or listened to much Christmas music. I changed my bedding and put the tree up. Plus I’m looking forward to Christmas Day. I think because I bought all my presents in November that I haven’t been feeling the Christmas spirit. I’m hoping these next few days will change that because I do love this time of year. I think I just need to have a Christmas movie marathon, drink hot chocolate and have mince pies then I’ll get into the Christmas spirit.  I’m wondering if anyone else is feeling like this, where this year in particular, it’s a struggle to get excited for Christmas. Let me know if you have any tips to get into the Christmas spirit because I really want to get into it. Anyway, thank you for taking the time to read my blog and I’ll be back soon with another post. See you the...

Cinema Etiquette

Image
In recent times I’ve noticed cinema etiquette seems to go right out the window. Whether it’s people checking their phones or talking or just sitting so close to you even when there’s no assigned seating. Let me just tell you that, if you’re checking your phone during the cinema. You’re not being subtle. Everyone can see the bright screen. Even if you turn the brightness down, it’s still in everyone’s line of sight. Going to the cinema isn’t cheap and it’s an experience. It’s a chance to escape for some people which means not checking your phone for two hours. If you’re really concerned about checking your phone, take it outside for a couple of minutes or better yet, sit at the back of the theatre so nobody can see you. It’s always the people that sit near the front that check their phones and maybe they’re oblivious to people behind them but guess what when you check your phone, everyone’s eyes are on you. Which is really frustrating because I'm supposed to be looking at the big sc...

What's In My Going Out Bag?

Image
As it's party season, I thought it would be a good idea to share what's in my going out bag as I'm going on a night out for Mad Friday this week and I'm so excited. Plus I thought it would be fun to share what I like to bring with me on a night out, let's get started. This is my going out bag and I've had this bag for over ten years. I originally got it from Matalan and I love it because it's a small clutch bag with a little strap, but you can surprisingly fit a lot in it. Also with the strap allows you to hold it in your hand, on your wrist and shoulder which is always handy. It's definitely a preference of mine. I don't like big bags and I get sick of cross body bags. This just makes it easier for me to carry on a night out.  Let's take a look inside. The first essential of a night out is always my phone. I just have an iPhone 11 which I find works for me. I got this case from Amazon and the pop socket is from Amazon. It actually works as a pho...

Going Out Makeup

Image
It's party season with work dos, nights out and Christmas parties so it's always good to have a plan for your going out makeup. I thought I'd share what I like to wear for when I go on a night out, especially at this time of year. Let's get started.  L'Oreal True Match Foundation This is a new foundation I've got, I decided to treat myself to a good quality foundation as I only ever use foundation for nights out and thought this would be perfect. I've heard lots of people recommend it and I thought I'd give it a try especially as I've got my work's Christmas party and another night out this month, Studio London Flawless Cream Concealer I've been loving this concealer for ages. It blends so well into the skin and you hardly notice it's there. It has good coverage and it's reasonable in price which is always a bonus. I wear this for everyday use and for nights out so it gets so much usage out of me.  Collection Gorgeous Glow Blush Stick...

Trip To Liverpool and Manchester

Image
Last weekend me and my mum decided to take a trip up north. We decided to visit Liverpool for one night before heading to Manchester for two nights. Here’s how it went down. On Thursday we booked the Magical Mystery Tour which I’d highly recommend because not only do you get to iconic landmarks like Penny Lane and Strawberry fields but you get to see some of the homes of the Beatles. Plus not only do you get excellent commentary from the tour guide, you get to listen to Beatles music on the drive around the city. Our tour guide was Tony and our bus driver was Dennis who were both amazing on the day.  Also the magical mystery tour gets you 15% off the Cavern Restaurant as well as a free entry plus souvenir postcard from The Cavern Club. On that particular day as well there was a Beatles Tribute band playing as well as a Father Christmas. It was a great evening all in all and worth it. The next day we travelled to Manchester. While on the way we were deciding what we were going to do...
