Trip To Liverpool and Manchester
Last weekend me and my mum decided to take a trip up north. We decided to visit Liverpool for one night before heading to Manchester for two nights. Here’s how it went down.
On Thursday we booked the Magical Mystery Tour which I’d highly recommend because not only do you get to iconic landmarks like Penny Lane and Strawberry fields but you get to see some of the homes of the Beatles. Plus not only do you get excellent commentary from the tour guide, you get to listen to Beatles music on the drive around the city. Our tour guide was Tony and our bus driver was Dennis who were both amazing on the day.
Also the magical mystery tour gets you 15% off the Cavern Restaurant as well as a free entry plus souvenir postcard from The Cavern Club. On that particular day as well there was a Beatles Tribute band playing as well as a Father Christmas. It was a great evening all in all and worth it.
The next day we travelled to Manchester.
While on the way we were deciding what we were going to do there. We thought we could try the cinema to see Wicked but I decided to look up what was being shown in the Palace Theatre. That’s when we saw Blood Brothers was being shown which we’d never heard of and looked at the synopsis. We decided why not and went to go watch it. It gave me similar vibes to the Prince and the Pauper story just without the swapping. The story is about a mother who gives birth to twins but can’t afford to have them both so gives one away and it follows the twins as they grow up in different circumstances. I was immersed from start to finish. The cast was brilliant and the singing was fantastic. It was a joy to watch but also really pulled at the heartstrings and by the final song I burst into tears. It was given a well deserved standing ovation in our performance and I found myself adding a new musical to my list of favourite musicals. I even downloaded the album after listening to it. Sometimes you gotta watch new shows in the theatre as it’s a whole experience watching it live and you may come to find that you are about to watch a musical that’s about to become one of your favourites.
The next day we decided to go to the cinema to watch Wicked which I’d never seen before but knew of the story. I was amazed by the singing and there were parts that I really enjoyed. The cast was incredible. My only issue was that it was longer than I thought. I can understand because it is a lot of world building and we get more scenes that aren’t in the stage show. I’m also aware that only Part 1 and as I discovered is only Act 1 of the musical. Yet it’s twice as long. I did enjoy it and will watch Part 1 but I do have to be honest and say it didn’t really hit me with all the feels. However it did make me want to go watch the musical live. I just wouldn’t say this was my favourite musical movie but I did enjoy it and thought the cast was amazing.
In the evening we went to the Christmas Markets and only managed to get one photo because it was so busy. I managed to enjoy a nice hot chocolate and ended up keeping the mug but yeah it was really busy so maybe avoid the Christmas Markets on a Saturday Evening because it just gets too crowded and me personally am not a massive fan of big crowds. Luckily we were able to book a meal at Pizza Express so it was a nice way to end the evening. Before finally making our way back to Wales the next day.
There we have it. That was my trip to Liverpool and Manchester. It was definitely an amazing trip filled with lots of excitement and new experiences. We tried different things on the trip which was worth it in the end. My favourite parts were definitely watching Blood Brothers and the Magical Mystery Tour. It was incredible.
Let me know if you’ve been to either Liverpool or Manchester recently and what was your favourite part of your trip? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Thank you for taking the time to view my blog and I’ll be back again soon with another post.
See you then.
