Xmas Movie Day

To get into the Christmas spirit, I decided to have a movie day and honestly I'm really glad I did because it just got me excited for Christmas day. Sometimes, you just need a cosy feel good movie to watch and I decided to watch these movies while I was hungover after going out the night before and it was the best decision. I closed my curtains, drank hot chocolate and had some snacks to keep me immersed while also snuggling in my Christmas bedding. It was perfect. I think the only thing missing was having someone with me but I know one day it will happen. Anyway, I want to share some of the movies I watched and why I love them.

How The Grinch Stole Christmas
This movie I watched so much growing up on VHS. Yes I had this on VHS. It's definitely a comfort movie for me. I love Jim Carrey's Grinch and how relatable he is to me in my adult years. How he didn't hate Christmas, he just hated how people treated him. It's just a fun movie to watch and really makes you get ready for Christmas time. Plus the message of don't judge people for how they look is clear and a reminder that Christmas isn't just about the presents. It's about the people you spend it with. Definitely a favourite Christmas movie of mine.

Home Alone
Another classic Christmas movie. I don't think you can do Christmas without watching Home Alone at least once. It's just perfect. I remember when I was a kid, wondering what would happen if my parents forgot me when they went on holiday and left me home alone. Although, I knew it wouldn't happen given there was only me and my brother so the chances of forgetting me were very small. It's just a fun movie and obviously all the traps Kevin sets are hilarious, classic slapstick. Granted some of the things that Kevin did make you wonder how Harry and Marv didn't get any life changing injuries or even die. Especially in the first one and the second one combined. Kevin is a real menace. Of course the real villain of Home Alone is not the Wet Bandits or even the mum. Not even the selfish Uncle Frank. No, the real villain is the dad for not even caring or noticing that his son is missing and not being in the bit interested in getting back to him as soon as possible. Also, what did the parents actually do for a job to afford a big house plus take fourteen people on holiday across the pond to France and how do I apply? Christmas definitely is not complete until you watch Home Alone and it's a fun, entertaining Christmas movie for everyone to watch.

The Muppet Christmas Carol
Of course, Christmas is not complete until you watch at least one version of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Honestly, the Muppet one is by far my favourite of them all. Michael Caine's Scrooge is just brilliant. You do fear him in the beginning and he definitely portrays the selfish, rich man very well. Of course, he shows the other caring and loving side brilliantly too which makes it perfect. Plus the fact we get to see the Muppets as a part of this story just makes it more lighthearted and yet captures the dark part of the story really well. Plus it's a musical which makes it even more joyful. Definitely my favourite version of A Christmas Carol and I always make the effort to watch it every year.

There we have it. That is my Christmas Movie Day. I had a lovely time watching these three movies and it has definitely gotten me in the mood for Christmas. I would highly recommend having a Christmas movie day if you're still not feeling Christmassy because this will definitely put you in the mood.

Thank you for taking the time to view my blog and I'll be back again soon with another post.

See you then.
