Single On Valentine's Day
Valentine's Day is a week away and once again I find myself single on it. I don't mind because I've gotten so used to the single life that I wouldn't even know what to do if I had a man in my life. I'm not going to spend the day moping around, wishing I had someone to spend it. The day is about love and there is no better love than self love. I thought I'd share some of my ideas on how you can spend Valentine's Day when you're free and single. Let's get started.
Go all out with a movie day. Get some cosy pyjamas for the occasion. Have a nice set up with all the cushions, blankets whether it's on your bed or the sofa. Pick out some of your favourite movies. The ones that you can't help but love or if you're in the mood. Binge watch a series you love or something you've never seen but always wanted to see. Then of course go all out with snacks like popcorn, nachos, chocolate or whatever you like. Pretend you're at the cinema or if you're feeling really daring, go to the cinema on your own. It's a whole different experience on your own and I kind of get a kick out of going on my own. I've always wanted to watch multiple movies in one day at the cinema but never had the chance to due to time constraints but maybe one day I will fulfil that goal.
If you have the budget for it, why not treat yourself to a solo getaway. I'm not saying you have to go all out by going abroad but why not book a cheap night away at a hotel somewhere nearby whether it's a town or city. I had a lot of fun when I took a solo trip to Telford and stayed the night on my own in a hotel. It was very enjoyable and sometimes it's just nice to get away from reality. Although the only downside is hotels tend to be a bit more expensive on Valentine's Day but hopefully there's some good deals out there and you think there should be special for the singletons on Valentine's Day because not everyone is in a relationship.
Why not have a day just pampering yourself? Have a nice bath with bubbles and a bath bomb. Relax by doing a hair mask or a face mask. Light some candles to set the mood and pretend you're at a spa. Paint your nails while listening to music or encorporate your pamper session with the movie day so you're doing multiple things on Valentine's Day. You're taking care of number one while also being entertained. It's important to take care of yourself especially if you're feeling down about being single because sometimes you do get those feelings of wishing you had someone and that's normal. The important thing is to pick yourself up and take care of you. Do things that make you happy.
Why not treat yourself to a nice meal? You could be brave and go out for dinner on your own at a restaurant. Maybe order your favourite takeaway. A nice thing you can do for yourself is prepare your favourite meal yourself. Go extra special and do something different from the usual meals that you do. Create a fake-away if you want to by making something that you'd normally order from your favourite takeaway but add your own little twist to it. Food is the greatest love of all and as they say the way to your heart is through your stomach. Having a nice meal to enjoy on Valentine's Day is a must and my favourite part of the day overall.
Why not get creative and try something new? Whether that is doing some painting, scrapbooking, a jigsaw puzzle or even doing some exercise. It can be a new hobby that you've always wanted to try or a hobby that brings you joy. Why not keep yourself occupied during the day? I've been trying to get into fitness so I thought why not go for a walk somewhere. Depending on how I'm feeling on the day, I may do scrapbooking instead because I've been meaning to get back in for a while now. Why not set yourself a project to complete. Pretend you're in an exam and have to complete a project by the end of the day whether that's painting a picture, writing a story or doing a set of exercises. Obviously without all the pressure of passing or failing. Plus you can listen to music and don't have to be quiet,
The beauty of all these things though is you can do all of them throughout the day but also they're not specifically just for Valentine's Day. After all, it is only one day. These are things that you can do throughout the year if you're in the mood for a little self-care. Also they're technically not just for single people. You can do these things with your friends, family or with a partner. I'm just dedicating this post to single people because we're usually the forgotten ones on Valentine's Day.
Anyway, I hope I've given you a few ideas on what you can do next week for the big day. Let me know if you're going to try any of these ideas out or if you have any other ideas to do on the day then be sure to tell me in the comments. I'd love to hear it.
Thank you for taking the time to view my blog and I'll be back again soon with another post.
See you then.
