Being Stood Up

You don't realise what it feels like to be stood up until it actually happens to you. Surprisingly, I've been stood up twice this year. Once in January and the second time was this month. The weird thing out of all of it was it wasn't my idea to meet up for a date, it was actually they're idea so to be stood up just felt weird because I couldn't really explain why it happened. Even the second time it happened, that was supposed to be a first date which was arranged the day before so it was very confusing to turn up for a date and he never showed up. Didn't even send a message. Just never turned up. It almost feels like the reason I've been stood up is because of me as it's happened twice to me this year and I'm still wondering why it happened. Both times we seemed to get along fine and the conversation flowed. Nothing happened to suggest why they would stand me up. I should also point out that it was two separate guys. Not the same guy because otherwise that would be one of those fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

With the first guy, I didn't even leave the house. I was just waiting for him to message when he wanted to meet up. We'd arrange to meet the week before and I stupidly thought he'd remember but he didn't. That sucked because I'd clearly been forgotten and wasn't worth remembering. The second time, I'd gotten ready and left the house to the place where we were supposed to meet up at the time we arranged. That sucked because I was hanging around outside for ages feeling a bit like a loser. I played it off by sitting on a bench and staring at my phone but still no response. No call. No message. Nothing. The weirdest bit was that he was messaging me that very morning so it was almost like in the time we messaged in the morning to the time we were supposed to meet up, he must have got cold feet. Even now I still wonder why because I never heard back from him and I didn't message because to be honest, I didn't really know what to say. Kind of a sad message to write "Hey, why did you stand me up?" The day wasn't entirely ruined as I went to the chippy and got some cheesy chips so all was not lost. It just felt very weird.

Honestly, being stood up does suck because your brain overthinks every possible situation of why they've done it. I kept thinking of excuses like maybe he's broken down or there was a family emergency. Yet surely you'd get in touch if something happened. Not completely ghost them. The worst one I thought was maybe he got there and saw me then just completely turned around because he didn't like how I looked. Yeah, my brain went there. It's an odd feeling because it makes you feel like you're the problem when the reality is that it's the person that stood you up is the problem. For whatever reason after arranging a date (which was their idea in the first place) decided to stand you up. It sucks.

I didn't think I'd be saying that I've been stood up twice this year but unfortunately that's what happened. It sucks but I'll move on. Although it's made me really not want to try online dating again cause I now think every guy is going to stand me up. I might take a break from it all together and maybe try again next year. We shall see.

Anyway, let me know if you've ever been stood up and we can all talk about how much it sucks in the comments below. Better yet, if you've ever stood anyone up then leave a comment below because I would love to know the thought process of standing someone up and whether it's for a valid reason. I'd love to hear all your thoughts in the comments below.

Thank you for taking the time to view my blog and I'll be back again tomorrow with another post.

See you then.
