Wreck This Journal
As someone who loves journaling and scrapbooking, this book was perfect. I'd heard of this book but never thought of getting it until watching a tik tok video about it. I love the way that there is no right or wrong way to do this journal. You can take the pages literally or you can interpret them, however you feel like it. I've had a lot of fun so far and thought I'd share the pages I've done. I'm pretty proud of them and I'm looking forward to filling up the pages. Let's get started.
This is my journal. I decided to doodle on the page and just used a white pen to doodle lines around. I literally just took the pen and went round with no real pattern in mind. What is interesting is when you buy the book you don't think it's going to be expandable but as I fill the pages, it does feel like it's expandable. Although I've seen end results where some have had to tape the pages or wrap string around the pages so it will be interesting to see what happens as I fill the book.
This is the first page I did. One of the instructions in the book is to colour the instructions page so I just coloured them in and made the instructions arrow into a street sign. It's not my best work but it's a starting point. You'll soon see I really started to interpret the instructions even more literally or not so literally as we go on.
I took these instructions literally and actually stood on the book. I even jumped up and down but I ended up tearing a page. You can see the muddyish footprints but I decided to add my own doodle footprints. I was inspired by the Marauder's Map footprints from Harry Potter. I might add a few more at a later date.
With this page I covered my hands in paint and pressed down. As you can tell it was a messy job and didn't really look like hands so I traced my hands with a white marker so that you can see the hands. I thought I did a pretty good job.
I had a lot of fun with this page as I bought some red and blue paint as well as some squishy balls. I then covered the ball in paint and threw it at the page. I had a lot of fun doing it as it reminded me of when I was younger. I had no real pattern in mind, I just kept throwing the balls and covering the page.
This one was pressing leaves on the page. Now I cheated and actually bought some fake leaves from The Works. To be fair they look a lot prettier than normal leaves and had a lot of fun creating an autumnal leave pattern. I was quite happy with how this page turned out.
This was the messiest page and also the stickiest. I decided to use clear glue and sprinkle glitter on top. I attempted to make a pattern but the glue just kept getting everywhere. It even caused some of the pages to stick together but I feel like that is part of the process with wrecking the journal. It was quite fun to do and I'm quite happy with the sparkly end result here.
I decided to interpret this page and not actually collect dead bugs. As you can tell I edited the instructions, I had some butterfly stickers from my scrapbooking supplies and bought these felt bee stickers. I then drew a few flowers as the page was looking bare. I didn't fancy collecting real life dead bugs as I thought that was a bit too gross.
This page I actually took in the bath with me and actually floated it on the water. The result made the page fold slightly but I was quite happy with how it turned out. I then added blue to it to highlight the floating on water. It's a simple page but I'm happy with it. I know there is a page where you take the book in the shower which I'll be intrigued to try out soon.
There we have it, that's my wreck this journal so far. Let me know if you've ever completed this journal. I'd love to see your interpretations of the pages. I have to say this is the most therapeutic book. Especially the page about stomping on it with your feet. It's great. I know there's also a page for when you're feeling angry so it will be interesting to do that page.
Anyway, thank you for taking the time to view my blog and I'll be back again tomorrow with another post for you.
See you then.
